MY way this time ;)

For 3 years I have kept the look of this blog pretty unisex...Since I write about Ben, Peter & myself I understand that the boys out number me...But, for the first time in 3 years I have chosen a "cute" and "girly" theme because I came across this and I like it. I'm in charge around here, right? haha Has anyone else ever posted on this blog? I don't think so.

Bathroom Pictures

Ok, the pictures I have to share aren't the greatest as they were taken with my Blackberry. Our camera broke and we have yet to buy another one...
But you will be able to see the transformation of our bathroom for the most part! Enjoy.

Bathroom BEFORE (gray/blue diamond floor, one strip of navy blue tile in shower, light blue walls)

Bathroom AFTER (beige and chocolate brown paint, beige flooring, etc)

Ben accidentally leaned/sat on/fell on top of the toilet paper holder so it's broken for now and the trim isn't back up yet!)

Bathroom Projects

This past Friday, Ben went to Bismarck with 2 other teachers for a conference. They stayed overnight. The conference was a training session for union negotiators. So Friday night my mom stayed overnight with Peter and I. She painted our main floor bathroom. I couldn't really do too much to help because of my back. We chose 2 shades of brown-chocolate brown and beige. When we moved in I purchased bath decor to match the light blue wall color. There was also a few navy blue tiles in the shower and gray and blue lenolium. I loved the decor I purchased but it was kind of a temporary fix until we decided what we were going to do to change things. Well about a month ago, my mom found some new decor. I fell in love with it, so that was my parents birthday present to me. I had a dragonfly theme going with the shades of blue, but my mom found decor that had dragonflies with beige, brown and silver accents. After picking out paint, I found some new lenolium tile at Menards. They are peel and stick and you can put it right over the old stuff. So mom painted Friday and Saturday (she even got the navy blue tiles covered). Ben got home on Saturday night and spent Sunday laying the new tile. We absolutely LOVE it! I haven't taken any photos yet because I am waiting until the tile dries and then we can clean everything up and put the new decor in place.

Not much else is new...I am doing a little better each day with my back. I have to be better by the first of March because I will be coaching JV softball at Sacred Heart. That's another reason why we are trying to get some odds and ends around the house done...I will be gone quite a lot from March-May.

Peter's ABA therapy is still going well. His therapists go to Little Miracles a few days a week for 2 hours and they come to our house in the evenings on the days they don't go to LM. So he has therapy almost everyday of the week. Little Miracles also provides speech therapy for him 2x a week for 30 minutes. They did an assessment of him in December. Peter is currently 14 months behind in his language. However, he is caught with PT and OT so that's a good thing. More good news is that Peter continued to do well with potty training. He has an accident or two throughout the day, but normally they are when he is at LM. He gets distrcted while playing and normally has his accidents when he is on the way to the potty. So at least he recognizes the urge to go. He isn't as good at going #2 on the toilet, but it all takes time. We have only been working on it for 2-3 weeks. We are very very proud of his progress!

I suppose I've written enough for now. I'll add photos of the bathroom when we have everything in place!

Birthday #26

I had a hard week being laid up with my bad back. But, I have had an amazing couple of days. I spent my birthday yesterday at the spa. I had a massage, facial, manicure & pedicure. It was all very wonderful and a much needed break. Afterwards, Ben and I went out to dinner and had a few drinks at Crosstown with my brother and some of our friends.

Today Ben spent the day with Peter so that I could go to Fargo. My mom, my friend Carrie, my sister-in-law Amy and Amy's mom, Jan, had lunch at Olive Garden. Then we did some shopping at Hobby Lobby. Next, we painted pottery at Clay Your Way. I made 2 great light switch covers, a platter and a coffee mug. After 3 1/2 hours there we went to Target and Kohl's. I needed some bathroom towels...we were gone for 12 hours. It was a great time spent with many of my favorite women! It truly is a blessing to live so close to so many loved ones. It's the little things that I didn't realize I was missing when we lived in Mankato-such as buying bathroom towels with "the girls". I appreciate these moments more and more as time goes on.

Ben reported to me that he and Peter went grocery shopping and also ran a few other errands while I was gone. They also did all the laundry in the house. Ben is so awesome! He truly does spoil me sometimes. :D

Well, Ben and I are just about to curl up and watch SNL so I must sign off for now.

Take Care!

Update on my back

Yesterday I went to the chiropractor. That seemed to help my back. I am going again today and tomorrow. Then I'll go a few times a week for three weeks. A while back I scheduled myself a day for a day at the spa. It's certainly a coincidence that I threw my back out this week...the facial, massage, manicure & pedicure will definitely hit the spot! Tomorrow night Ben and I have plans to go to dinner and a movie...I suppose it will depend on how I feel by the end od the day.

After my chiro apppintment today, I'm going to go to work for about 3 hours. Hopefully I can handle it! On Saturday I am riding to Fargo with my friend, Carrie, my mom, Amy and her mom. We are going to have lunch at Timberlodge (they have a special gluten free menu for my mom) and then we are going to paint pottery at Clay Your Way. I am soooo excited! I hope my back continues to improve up until then. It will be a nice day out and about with the girls.

Well, I'm signing off for now. I will post again soon!

Hurting

So the potty training is going well. But now I am injured. :( On Monday morning I went to lift Peter on to the toilet when he woke up and I threw my back out. I collapsed on the bathroom floor and shouted for Ben. I literally couldn't move. Ben carried me to the bed and I was screaming. He called an ambulance. The EMT's gave me an IV right in the bed and gave me morphine and valium. They did this just so that I could move enough to get on the stretcher. I spent the morning in the hospital receiving lots of nice drugs. They sent me home with some pain meds and told me to take it easy this week. After the initial pain goes away they may have me get an MRI to check out my ligaments and disks. I'm not allowed to lift anything heavy. I kind of want to go into work today for a few hours...we'll see if my body allows it. The pain meds make me so drowsy that I'm not sure I'll be able to stay awake long enough to get anything done at the office.

Other than that, things are fine around here. I'll post again soon so you can stay updated.

Peace.
