Peter's first Easter was a lot of fun! Grandpa Punky and Grandma Berta came to Mankato for a few days prior to Easter. Grandpa had a lot of fun with his favorite grandson, as you can see from the picture. :) On Good Friday (shame on us), we took Peter to see the Easter Bunny at the mall. He enjoyed sitting on the Bunny's lap and the rest of the mall-goers loved Peter and his bunny ears. He was quite a hit! The Easter Bunny visited our house on Sunday morning after church. He brought Peter a blue bunny that sings "Jesus Loves Me", a pinwheel, and some eggs stuffed with Cheerios. That Easter Bunny sure knows what snacks to bring an 11 month old! And a few days after Easter, Peter started crawling for real! He's all over the house now! He's also pulling himself up next to things and standing really strong. Not long from now he'll be walking. He loves to crawl under the coffee table and end table. Then he gets confused and hits his head...someday he'll figure it out. He loves to pull on chords that are plugged into outlets and he loves to mess with anything that ISN'T a toy. Ah, the joys of being a parent. :) Well, I should get going...We hope everyone had a great Easter. Come back soon!
Tonight after Peter ate supper, Ben and I took him to a park which is a block from our house. He loved the trip in the stroller. He is a very "investigative" baby--He gets a very serious look on his face when he's looking around and exploring new places. He especially loved looking up at the white puffy clouds in the sky. At the park we put him in the baby swing as you can see from the picture. He sure did love it! Now that the weather is nicer we'll definitely be going there more often. After we left the park we put the stroller in the recline position and gave him his nighttime bottle as we strolled. He fell asleep all tucked into his bed on wheels. Ben and I continued on our walk and just chatted. It was definitely a much needed time of family bonding for the Gergens. I better get going...Come back and read again soon! Peace.
Well, Peter is finally crawling! He takes about 2 steps forward, grabs the toy he wants and then goes back to his butt. I don't think he understands fully that he can crawl a long distance without needing to get a toy, but first things first, I suppose. He gets a bit frustrated once in awhile when his foot gets stuck underneath him, but we've been letting him get frustrated so that he learns. It's part of the painful part of parenting. Not much else is new...We just wanted to share that exciting news!! Peace.

Hello everyone...Sorry that it's been so long since we've posted. We've been busy but not with anything too exciting to write about. Life as a young family is hectic but enjoyable. Peter still isn't crawling at 10 months, but he sure is creative at how he gets around. He scoots backwards and sideways and he twists and turns, but he doesn't seem to just crawl on all fours. Hmmmm.....He has his own ways of doing things, I guess. Maybe it proves he's a genius or just that he's unique and perfect in God's image! Probably the latter of the two. Hopefully he'll just move right on to walking (when he wants to of course). Although most of you experienced parents that are reading this are probably laughing and thinking we're nuts for wanting to see his first steps because it's chaos after that, I've heard! The only other newest thing about Peter is that he's really starting to enjoy his baths. He has never fussed over baths, but he used to just sit in the tub, look around and then look at us like, "Can I be done now?". He's really developed a skill for splashing and sliding around. He inspects his rubber ducks and laughs at them. He sure has a wonderful character to him. I used to think he was serious like his dad, but he's showing more and more of his wild side. I wonder if he gets that from his mom? I'm including a bath picture. Enjoy! Peace.
