Bike Ride Pictures

Hello all! So I finallly got Peter's first bike ride photos up! You should all be sooo proud considering the fact that I've been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to get ready for our trip. It's crazy how I went from packing for myself to having to pack for 3 people!! Men don't seem to pack for themselves and when they do, their suitcase is usually a garbage bag of dirty laundry. I really didn't want Ben wearing a wrinkled t-shirt and jeans to the rehearsal luncheon in Vancouver, so I forged ahead like always and packed for my husband. Isn't life grand? :) Anyways, Grandpa Punky and Grandma Berta will be on the road in a few hours to come and stay over night and then take Peter in the morming. We are looking forward to our trip, but we're starting to get scared of missing Peter. But I'm sure we'll still manage to have fun. Enough rambling from me....Picture 1) Peter and Daddy revved up for the bike ride. 2) Peter watching Daddy intently as he gets strapped in. He always likes to make sure that Dad is doing it right. 3) Close-up of the cutest baby in the whole world! (Not a baby anymore being 13 months old, I suppose) 4) On your mark, get set, GO! 5) The "after" picture...he doesn't seem upset to me! 6) Peter trying to put a bucket on his head...7) and he succeeds! Bye for now and we'll be back on in a few weeks to update you and give you some awesome sights from Seattle, Vancouver and Portland!

Trip to WA

Well everyone, I'm a slacker because I haven't gotten any bike ride pictures up...And they won't be going up anytime soon because we're going on vacation! Tomorrow night after Peter goes to bed (and when Grandpa Punky and Grandma Berta arrive to drive Peter to EGF), Ben and I will be venturing to Minneapolis and catching a flight early on Wednesday morning. We are in the wedding of our friends Rick and Brittany. Ben is the Best Man and I am a bridesmaid. The wedding will be on Sunday, June 25th which just happens to be Ben's birthday! They are going to have a special birthday cake for Ben at the reception (ssshhhhhh!!! That part is a surprise!) We are flying into Seattle but the wedding is in Vancouver. When we're done with all the wedding festivities Ben and I will be spending some time ALONE in Seattle. We currently have reservations to have lunch at the Space Needle for Tuesday, June 27tth. We also want to check out the fish market and downtown art galleries. The more I learn about Seattle via the internet, the more excited that I get to sight see there! But yes, I'm excited about the wedding too. We will be flying through the night on Wednesday/Thursday and we'll be arriving back in Minneapolis around 6am on the 29th of June. We will miss Peter terribly but we are thrilled to spend some time with friends and alone. We're lucky to be having a second honeymoon in our second year of marriage! When we get back we'll fill you all in and add some awesome pictures, I PROMISE! Please pray for our safe travels (and that Peter is good for Granpa and Grandma).

Bike Ride

Hello Everyone! We went for a bike ride last night with our new pull-behind cart thingey for the first time. Of course I forgot to bring my camera to work with me so that I could upload some pictures so I'll do that in the next few days. Anyways, I'll tell you about it...Peter didn't mind getting put into it...He kind of kicked his legs a bunch and smiled as if to say, "Let's go, Mom!" When we pulled out of the driveway, he threw his hands down, grabbed a hold of the vinyl and his eyes became the size of silver dollars! His eyebrows were all crinkled up. He had a VERY confused and a little bit of a scared look on his face. Ben and I rode for about 20 minutes around the neighborhood. Peter was stiff and stayed in the same position the entire time. He looked out the side window a little bit, but was mostly confused. We ended the ride when Peter's out-of-shape parents were tired (well, out-of-shape Mom, that is). He never cried, so I know that he was just curious and trying to figure out why he was "inside" and we were "outside" while moving as opposed to being in a vehicle. But the more we ride, the more he'll get used to it and I'm sure he'll crack a smile while cruising. When we were all finished, I grabbed the camera because I wanted to get the "after" picture where he had the confused look, but of course, being the photogenic baby that he is, he cheered right up, smiled and posed for the camera so I figure he couldn't have been too terribly tramatized by the ordeal. Come again soon and hopefully the pics will be up when you're back. Have a great weekend everyone!

Daycare

Just recently Peter starting going to daycare for the first time. The daycare is a home daycare. It's called "Daycare By Dad". Kevin and Jean are friends of ours from church that we've been on some committees with. Kevin decided to quit his job and stay home to take care of their two children (Madalyn, 4 and Brayden, 1) and take care of 3 others. Peter attends, as well as 2 other boys (Dolen, 6 and Logan 1). Kevin sure has his hands full! Three boys that are 1...Next year will be tricky if they're all still around! Poor Madalyn is the only girl, but maybe that will change eventually. It's great for us because it's very reasonably priced and it's very close to my job at MSU, so for the Summer the drop-off and pick-up is very easy. In the Fall when Ben starts school again, he may be doing some of the driving. :) In case you're wondering, we had to get daycare because Ben now has 2 jobs for the Summer. He is working from 7am-3pm at ADM (Archer Daniels Midland, I think...It's a big elavator operation of sorts) here in Mankato. He does light maintenance (sweeping, cleaning, etc.). And of course he is still at Menards about 20 hours per week. So between the two of us, we're working 100 hours a week! The few moments we get together as a family, we cherish! Tonight we plan to go for a bike ride with our new child carrier/cart thingey that Peter got for his 1st birthday from Grandpa Punky and Grandma Berta. We'll take pictures of Peter's first reaction and publish them here. Well, I've babbled long enough! Come again soon... PS: This picture is of Peter eating lunch (pizza) that Kevin took with his camera phone yesterday. He emailed it to me as I was sitting at my desk. Technology these days is wonderful, isn't it?
