Sorry that it's been so darn long since we've posted!! Nothing too exciting has been going on, except NOW because we are celebrating PETER'S FIRST BIRTHDAY! As you can see, he enjoyed his very first cupcake. The flame on the candle didn't last long because he was a little "grabby". Ben and I bought him a pair of pajamas, a Baby Einstein DVD (as you can see him snacking on it) and a shape sorter for learning by Fisher Price. Peter of course was not interested in the gifts, just the ribbon, wrapping, the camera and anything else unrelated to the gifts!
Grandma Berta and Grandpa Punky will be arriving in town today to spend the weekend with us and tomorrow we will be having a great BIG party at our house. It's supposed to be 90 degrees tomorrow!! Around 30 people will be coming...Some family and mostly friends from the Mankato area. We're going to serve steak and potatoes amongst many other salads and munchies. We are not only celebrating Peter's 1st birthday, but also this is going to be a "thank-you" party for the family and friends that have helped us along the way the past couple of years. We couldn't have made it this far without all of them...People have helped us move, baby-sat for free, given us clothes and supplies for the baby, checked up on me (Janelle) when I have been sick or when I was on bed-rest, etc. It is going to be a celebration of life and love. Ok, I'll quit with all the mushy stuff. We hope you all have some fabulous plans for Memorial Weekend. Check back soon because we'll add some more party pictures and we'll try to keep you posted more regularly. Bye for now!
Peter's first Easter was a lot of fun! Grandpa Punky and Grandma Berta came to Mankato for a few days prior to Easter. Grandpa had a lot of fun with his favorite grandson, as you can see from the picture. :) On Good Friday (shame on us), we took Peter to see the Easter Bunny at the mall. He enjoyed sitting on the Bunny's lap and the rest of the mall-goers loved Peter and his bunny ears. He was quite a hit! The Easter Bunny visited our house on Sunday morning after church. He brought Peter a blue bunny that sings "Jesus Loves Me", a pinwheel, and some eggs stuffed with Cheerios. That Easter Bunny sure knows what snacks to bring an 11 month old! And a few days after Easter, Peter started crawling for real! He's all over the house now! He's also pulling himself up next to things and standing really strong. Not long from now he'll be walking. He loves to crawl under the coffee table and end table. Then he gets confused and hits his head...someday he'll figure it out. He loves to pull on chords that are plugged into outlets and he loves to mess with anything that ISN'T a toy. Ah, the joys of being a parent. :) Well, I should get going...We hope everyone had a great Easter. Come back soon!
