Bye Bye Flu!

Well, Peter is feeling much better! His temperature is back to normal. Here's a funny story. This morning he woke up at 5:30am and he was SCREAMING really loudly. His scream was one of fear, not really whining. Ben got him up and gave him a bottle right away to see if that was the problem. He drank the whole bottle and then continued to scream. We gave him some Pedialyte to see if that would help. (He's had nothing but Pedialyte for 48 hours) After the Pedialyte, more SCREAMING! We changed his diaper and checked his temperature...Normal temp....What could be wrong with this baby, we thought...I held him and rocked him thinking maybe it was just a bad dream that started it all and maybe he just wanted his Mommy. Well Ben, the genius, went and got some cheerios and put them in a dish. Peter's little eyes lit up and was starting to smile and laugh when he saw the cheerios!! He ate one right after another until he realized that he didn't want one at a time, he wanted to hold the dish and take 5 at a time. Here the kid was HUNGRY for real food!! He giggled and giggled and giggled!! Here we forgot that that could be the problem...After a whole bunch of cheerios and a bowl of cereal he was very content. Let's just say we're amateurs, but we're sure glad that our first round of the stomach flu as parents is OVER!! Peace.

Stomach Flu...

I wanted to add another picture of Cute Baby Peter tonight, but due to the fact that he has come down with the stomach flu, I don't think it would be appropriate. This afternoon we took Peter into Urgent Care (5pm) with a temp of 101.8. He had been throwing up and had diarrhea all day! His tummy was rumbling and he kept pulling his little (yet porky) legs up in pain. When we were in the waiting room at the clinic, his most recent bottle came hurling out onto Mommy! We sure don't get grossed out anymore! So poor Peter waited for the nurse to call his name in nothing but a diaper. We were given a prescription for some nausea medicine and told to give him nothing but Pedialyte and watch to make sure he doesn't get dehydrated. He is sleeping comfortably now and we hope he sleeps through the night. We'll keep you posted!

Parenthood

There's not much new in our world. Ben went back to school today as last week was Spring Break. Ben's Spring Break consisted of 2 blizzards. Only in Minnesota is "Spring" Break full of snow. Peter is doing fine. He had ice cream yesterday for the first time and of course, LOVED it. He's getting frustrated that he isn't crawling yet. When a toy is out of his reach he flips out. I keep getting on the floor on all fours trying to teach him how to move around, but I think he'll only do it when he's ready. He tipped over yesterday when he was trying to crawl and now he has a black and blue ear. And Peter's current favorite thing to do is take away anything that I'm holding because he wants it. Remotes and telephones are his new toys. My mother laughed at me when I told her that I thought it was so weird that he wants everything that isn't really a toy. She said, "Welcome to motherhood." She says she enjoys listening to my stories as she always told herself, "Someday she'll have a child and understand." Ok, well I should get back to work. Tomorrow night we have ECFE class and we're going to make rattle toys. I'll fill you in on that later this week. Peace.
